Hard for you to critique something you never heard. The Modwright uses current production tubes. I do not drive anything or review anything with a receiver. In any case you need to audition product before making statements on the what they are or are not..Your MO over the years has not changed.

I have not auditioned the Oppo 205 and are only commenting on your enthusiastic review headphone.guru which seems at odds with statements from Modwright who say it is a bit cold & clinical with hard edge or glare.... I have no interest in tubes new or old. As for mch. with a receiver this only refers to Kal who uses a pre-pro & additional amps. I assume you have no interest in mch SACD. I repeat reading your review of the 205, its hard to understand why anyone would spend more than the cost of this spinner on a extortionate priced mod.$2495 when according to you it is already a Universal- Sensation. It appears that the expensive $2K a metre interconnects you use (you say the sound is spectacular) are eliminating the cold clinical& hard edge glare heard by Modwright.

The modifications by Modwright is a substantial upgrade. It replaces the entire analog section with premium parts and adds a separate power supply. The UDP 205 with the modification is at another level entirely and worth the investment. Still your criticism is not valid since you never heard the product nor plan to audition it. The Oppo stock is sensational and the Modwright version better yet. I stand by by comments based on working with both versions for months, People usually comment from experience with products and ones that do not listen to a product then criticize it makes that opinion non valid in my opinion. This hobby is about subjective listening which in your case is non existent.
Your review is questionable, makes no sense after reading Modwright's comments. Get your facts right,I have not criticised the 205 only disparity or incongruity of your review . We still have no reviews of the 205 with mch SACD.

Your the one making no sense. Not hearing products then making remarks about products you have not heard. Your just trolling and offer no insight into this discussion. Regarding our review of the UDP 205 we were honest and thorough in our evaluation for our website followers which are personal audio enthusiast. We do not do multi-channel or surround sound reviews for headphone enthusiasts. We review for personal audio market on our sight which excludes multi channel listeners. Your comments remain irrelevant and not a contribution to this discussion. Perhaps you should actually listen to products before you make silly remarks. No one takes you seriously.

Frank I
I am looking forward to your review of the SA-10.
We all have waited long enough for it.
I have not had the opportunity to audition 205 only the 203, your review as you say will be of interest to your followers and you have now explained why you did not review its mch capability. Modwright mod. does not improve the analogue out for mch operation in the same way it does for Stereo. Perhaps Kal will review 205 mch capabilities if favourable I will audition the 205, not bothered so far because not keen on having so many analogue interconnects necessary for using the 205s Sabre Pro 9308 Dac in mch mode when using my Sony receiver, which incidently has extremely good 32 bit copper shielded dacs and only requires one HDMI lead for mch SACDstill sounds excellent.
