Yes, I believe I understand what you are saying. So, 'New Age' is a subcategory of 'Ambient', so to speak?
Follow Ups:
Not only is it a great way to hear new or at least more ambient, but these is 2 hours of it a week put together by someone who knows what they are talking about and also knows a lot of the musicians (Pimmon).
You can listen to that on your computer.

Another 320k feed I found:

Ok, I believe I understand the core meaning of 'Ambient' music. I enjoy it. You definitely have to be in the mood for it.

But, Windows Media Player at 64k? Bummer. I guess I have been spoiled on 320k WinAmp. However, I shall take one for the team and sacrifice resolution to broaden my catalog.![]()
p.s. so far I would categorize this as 'Meditational'. From the first song that is. I shall keep listening and report back later.
I probably don't know what I am talking about ;^) I am still new to this genre, but learning daily.
Cheers
Yes, pretty-much; you put it much more succinctly than I did. Some new age is not ambient tho; I guess they over-lap, with most new age being a sub-category of ambient.I have just added to my previous post - probably while you were posting... it includes a vague description of new age. But these categories are not at all clear-cut and are difficult for me to describe. Hope I make some sense.
Cheers
