I don't know if I have the Omega II Headphones or not. Here is a picture of the STAX headphones I just bought. They are the STAX SR-X9000 Flagship headphones. I thought they were also called STAX Omega headphones. Perhaps I'm wrong.
At any rate, I thought they were the new top-of-the-line STAX headphones. They were just introduced. I'm using them with the STAX SRM-700T headphone driver unit, which I originally bought about six months ago bundled with the STAX SR-007MK2 headphones. When I bought the STAX bundle, the SR-X9000 headphones were not yet available for sale.

Omega II was the flagship 20 years ago and came in champagne color. It was much more difficult to drive than the X9000, and until really serious juice was applied, Omega II could sound dark and round.
Why do you say that the 20-year-old STAX Omega II headphones are better than the brand new STAX SR-X9000 Flagship headphones?
Do you own both of them?
Thanks!
*I* wasn't saying Omega II was better than X9000. I was asking you why you said "I also own the SR-007MK2 headphones, and the Omega's are noticeably better." I guess you had your Omegas mixed up.On the other hand, there are audiophiles who do say the 20 year old Omega II is better than X9000 (and SR009, any xx9 series). When powered by powerful 'stat amp, they say Omega II bass becomes much more dynamic and extended with much richer and smoother midrange, being preferred to xx9 series "brighter, less natural" "less warm" sound.

Sorry! I guess I missed the question mark at the end of your statement.
Anyway, when I said the 'Omega's are noticeably better than my SR-007MK2 headphones' , I was referring to the SR-X9000 headphones being better than my SR-007MK2 headphones. For some odd reason I thought the SR-X9000 headphones were also called Omega headphones.
Sorry!
No need for sorry. For reference, I prefer my SR009 to Omega II myself, so there's something for every taste in this hobby..
Well, I've never heard the SR-009 headphones or the Omega II headphones, so I can't comment on your preference. However, my new SR-X9000 headphones are the most transparent and natural sounding headphones I've ever heard in my life. My first reaction was that they lacked bass, but its just so clean and transparent that it seems weaker than some of my other headphones. Now that my SR-X9000 headphones have broken in and I've gotten used to them, they just sound more natural and realistic than any other headphones I've ever heard. Their bass also sounds just as powerful, yet more transparent than any of my other headphones.
Happy listening!
