I grabbed an Elear recently (Craigslist trade) and it came with an Amazon 4ft cable. It probably sounds fine, but 4ft is worthless unless I'm using a portable device.
Thought I'd be able to find a 10ft replacement easily... no such luck.
Don't have a dedicated headphone amp, so was thinking of using a 1/4" plug for my Anthem AVR. I can use the 4ft cable for the PC.
1. Any cable recommendations (less that $200)?
2. Should I get a balanced 4 pin XLR now (and an adapter) in case I do go with a headphone amp?
Follow Ups:
my cables from Audio Sensibility. Very nice.
If you can solder, I suggest DIY cables using high-quality conductors, pure silver in the case of my recent DIY cable (see link)
I also suggest Not to use Focal Elear's TS connector and use TRS connector. Just leave the "R" portion unconnected, and then you can use the same cable on Focal Elear, Hifiman, Raal headphone, even Abyss (with adapter).
I bought cables from Periapt that are very nice and not expensive at all. The originals were junk, certainly not appropriate for $1k phones IMHO.
If you want to keep the OG, you could also buy an extension cable. Mine's a Grado.
