Hifiman Arya Stealth driven by Fiio M15. Great combo! The Arya standard cable is 1/4".
Start with Hifiman. I have an older pair of HE400 headphones. I drive them with both a Schitt Lyr 3 and an Aune DAC/headphone amp. I think the Sundara is the successor model.
Stax electrostatic - hands down

I really wish they weren't so expensive. The only Stax headphones I want cost over $12,000. I just can't justify spending that kind of money for headphones. Maybe, if I keep thinking about them, I'll eventually give in and buy a pair. The only problem is that I'm 74 now and I'll probably be deaf by the time I decided to pull the trigger.
Oh, well. Such is life!

you dont need the top of the line Stax - even the entry level models are amazing
how do I know ?
I have been to the Costa Mesa headphone show in California and have owned the described Stax first hand
I thought they topped out at around $6500.Or maybe, you are including the price of top-level Stax amp ?

Well, you need to have a special amp because they won't play without one. They don't plug into an ordinary headphone output.
I recall audeze having some electrostats that were really good for alot less. Also Shure has some affordable electrostatic ear buds. Kse1500 is the ticket.
Cut to razor sounding violins
Gotta remember to save up a few grand for a halfway decent electrostatic amp, y' know .
eBay can be your friend if you carefully select a used energizer & make sure it is for US line voltage. My two units were bought that way & work flawlessly. One is certainly in need of a recap & rebiasing, but it is over 30 years old.

Never tried them but the Aryas are the rage in that price point

Aptly named, I think. Just soaks you in the music. Pretty light and easy to wear, even laying down.
A bit power hungry - not familiar with you pre's headphone output.
I drive them balanced with a Headamp GSX-2 class A, claims 6 watts (not sure at what ohm, but it is plenty in real life, even on LCD-4's).
Want something less ether-ley flow-ey, maybe Hi-Fi Man (but beware of build).
Not suggesting Audeze because they are not all that comfy.
