I just scored a pair of brand new SR-507 earspeakers for $750. The seller had been asking $1000, and I didn't expect an acceptance. They should arrive next week.I've fallen deeply in love with my SR-207 pair & STM-1/Mk2 energizer over the last eight months. I listen almost everyday using that combination. It's a special treat every time. I'm hoping for more of the same from the new earspeakers. There are few reviews for them, and those are contradictory.

I just finished comparing the 207 pair against the 507 pair. So far, the differences noted are in improved clarity & bass response. Voices and drum kit are better defined. The former have better clarity & certain sounds of the latter are "wetter" in the 507s. Overall, the sound is cleaner than the 207s. The 507s are certainly more comfortable. The leather pads make a big difference.
More testing to come.

I'm intending to do a shoot-out with the SR-207 pair. So far, the 507s appear to have noticeably better & deeper bass. Bass frequency transients & percussion sound much more authoritative. I love that. The soundstage appears a little smaller, but nothing of the above has been confirmed. That may have to wait until the weekend.

Yes, I know what you mean. Once you put them on, unless you are tired or not in a musical mood, you are most likely going to listen for an hour or two.
I have the SR202 and SR003 mk2, driven by a SRM-252ii. Although the SR202 has the SR404 leather pads, I still prefer the little SR003 mk2 most of the time. lighter, does not cover the ear and sounds 95% as good.
I used oldie-but-goody SR-5s and love them. I probably do 99% of my listening on them.

I do 100% of my listening using my headstats. Although I'd love to be able to set up a sat-sub system just for solo strings & piano music, it just doesn't work in my room. I've tried it several times. On top of that, they might not equal the speed & transparency of the Stax earspeaker pairs I have. That level of reproduction is hard to beat.

I am also a big fan of headphones and love my Staxes as much as my Beyerdynamics. Nevertheless I also enjoy using my speakers - and boy do we have a difficult room. The resolution of all room problems was to switch to open baffle speakers. No bass modes anymore and even our grand piano, standing just behind one of the open baffles, does not resonate with the bass.
