Has anyone here tried the Chinese replacement parts? Specifically the headband and foam pad. Here is an ebay link for a kit for under $15.

While not inexpensive, I found these sheepskin/memory foam replacement earpads for the Sennheiser HD 600 headphones to be of high-quality, very comfortable, and to sound better to my ears vs. the stock velvet/velveteen earpads and worthy of use with the classic HD 600. The seller does not offer a replacement headband pad for the HD 600, though.

I have a pair on my AT 2000X. Leather, angled. I like them, over the OEM cloth covered ones.

... they will be different from the stock ones. Some are closer than others but none I've found so far are exactly the same as the stock ones. And with every change in foam type I would also expect a change in sound.
As a Grado user I might especially lament the fact that while genuine Grado "bowl" style earpads for my RS-1is will cost me about $30 shipped, the $10 - $20 Asian knockoffs are both different densities and inferior sounding (compared to genuine Grado earpads). So I bite the bullet on that one to pay Grado whatever they want.

I think Grado earpad prices must be market-driven. BH Photo-Video sells yours for $20 (plus shipping). Earpads for my inexpensive SR-60 are $10. Foam pads for the GS-1000 are $45 (!)

Sure, B + J might sell them for "$20 plus shipping" but that ends up being barely less than the "$30 shipped" price from Grado direct.
At least when I buy direct from Grado I know I'm getting a fresh pair. Grado bowl pads have been known to crack and disintegrate over time with exposure to air and light so I really don't want any that have been sitting on a shelf in somebody's garage for the past ten years.
I was only commenting on the large variation in pricing between models. I don't care where you buy them. :)

Freshness matters.
I once ordered a non-genuine foam pad from amazon.I couldn't get over all the crackling it made when I wore it. So, returned them and ordered genuine Sennheiser parts instead. I haven't regretted it. The HD-600 phones are really good and worth repairing properly.
