I'm looking forward to hearing the new AKG K245. The open-backed design is the most interesting aspect, which is is not the most usual type when it comes to AKG products. The large 50mm drivers will also be of interest.
Follow Ups:
I do like the sound of my Sennheiser HD-555 headphones, which are open- back. They have a light electrostatic like quality.

I plan to build a DIY headphone cable for the AKG K245 headphones, similar to the excellent one I built for my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones. The same ViaBlue 6.3mm stereo phone plug and very thin Mogami W2944 console cable; two individual cables run parallel for potentially decreased stereo crosstalk vs. a single twisted triad cable for both channels, as well as a REAN 3-pin female mini-XLR connector. At less than $25, it's as good as I seek for my needs, and substantially better sounding than a typical headphone cable.
