Thanks for the review, Ed. As an Elear owner, I've been happy for quite awhile. But as you know, the curiosity is always there.

But, I have used their car audio products. Very well made, solid stuff. Eager to try their phones.

Give 'em a listen when you have a chance. I found the Elears to be exciting, clear and dynamic. They demand my attention. More compelling than either the Ether Flow Cs or the flagship Sony's. But everyone's different.
As far as well made, the Elears have this annoying creaking or squeaking when the structure is twisted or turned. And the cable is a heavy piece of crap. Things you don't expect on a thousand dollar item. The Clear looks to have corrected the cable issue, but not sure on the creaking noise. Sound-wise, like them a lot.
My daily driver is the Senn/Massdrop 6XXs. Find them very listenable and comfortable. Light enough to carry around easily. For $200, a stunningly good buy IMHO. Could easily live with them exclusively.
I agree on the cable I don't need 3 meters of thick rubber sitting here on my couch. I bought a 5' Moon Audio Blue Dragon, which sound great an are much easier to deal with. This is my first venture into headphone listening, and don't want to attempt a review. I have an iDAC which has much more drive than my laptop and am really enjoying my system.
