I got a message from my dealer and the Clear's are on backorder until the end of May.

We don't shush around here!
Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof
Follow Ups:
I hope that you do remember as the Clears are at the top of my wants list if, as you say, they are as good as reported.
I have heard the Elears ( nice but slightly unremarkable for the price) and the Utopias ( too bright or light sounding for my tastes unless perhaps carefully paired with a suitable amplifier - I have heard 3 pairs on 3 different headphone amps). However if the Clears are indeed kind of half way between the two then they should be ideal for me as a replacement for and improvement upon my Senn HD600s.
Considering the pace of traffic on this board I expect your post will still be near the top come the end of the month in order to remind us :-)
That's a tough one.
I went with the Kennerton Vali (MassDrop version) and am reasonably happy.
On the warm, organic, side. Not too much artificial bass and not any annoying brightness masquerading as 'detail'.
There are cans I would rather have (the highest end HiFiMan, for instance), but at $700+ the Kennerton Vali, when MassDrop offers it, is hard to beat and at least in the same vein as the Senn 600/650.

Well, of course MassDrop is really not open to me. By the time I have shipped across the pond and paid all of the duties, taxes, etc any discount will have been obliterated.
Just checking around and the only Kennerton I can find on sale here is the Odin. Now that is expensive.
Unfortunately buying expensive cans is difficult. Briefly you either don't buy at all or you throw your 1500 currency units at an unknown and hope for the best. Sometimes you can get a rough idea from e.g. CanJams etc but this is limited by ambient noise and the fact that the headphone amplifier in use is unlikely to be yours.
How people buy expensive IEMs ( especially with custom earpieces ) really stumps me. Aside from the fact that you can't check out the customisation unless you have bought it even checking out demonstration non- custom jobs would be unacceptable for hygiene reasons.
Here Mr. Dealer is my 1500. If I don't like them I can't sell them because they only fit my ears. No worries, I'll just put it down to experience :-(
