Took the headphone plunge

Recovering audiophile so i didnt throw a ton of dough at the system but damn it rocks for little money.

Got the Monolith M560 headphones with the Schiit Vali2 headphone amp.

Cicsmemory player with a Lynx card feeds the Vali2. Pretty amazing sound. Really happy.

One thing i found that helped is that the imaging sucked in comparison to speakers.

Messed with some vst crossfeed plugins and they just didnt work that well. Redline Monitor was the best but it was buggy (more like my system was on edge and anything extra was taxing). A trick i did that made it sound acceptable was to add a bit of the opposite channel into the mix but at a lower volume. This helped the center image but didnt have some of the frequency artifacts I got from the vst plugins

Anyhow its pretty amazing the value these products supply. Bass and detail and no fatigue. Power cords are all jps labs and cost way more than the $350 total for the phones and amp.

For those who value accuracy in timbral reproduction.

Although spectacular "soundstaging effects" can be had with headphones and DSP amplification. Have you heard the Smyth?

  Its super hard not to tweak this stuff. So i mucked around with my memory player and got it sounding amazing. These phones are super revealing. And planar bass down to 20hz!
