No, the Kiwi app works by just using the the url: https://irc.audioasylum.com/

Jeremy built the IRC on our server and later moved it to his cloud and has been taking care of it for a long time. He gave me the link for the updated Kiwi app. An IRC client can do more, but isn't necessary.
