It is available live right now on other mediums outside NYC...I did not know how large his body of work was....
In a way a true genius-even if much sounds repetitive....
Enjoying it immensely
Follow Ups:
Several decades ago I purchased record of 'Dancing in my Head' by OC and went across the street to a stereo store to listen to some audio gear. The friendly sales person put the record on to a turntable and connected it to the gear in which I was interested. After about 30 seconds the salesman said he was sorry but he couldn't listen to that and was going to leave and shut the door.
I could barely get through the Virgin Beauty LP on the first listen. After some weeks passed, I tried again. It clicked! It's now one of my favorite LPs in the collection.
The same thing happened with Wendy Carlos' "Beauty in the Beast". Another initial flop that is now one of my favorites.
Ornette and Wendy.....two geniuses.
Your interest may vary but the results will be same. (Byrd 2020)
I can't compete with the dead. (Buck W. 2010)
Cowards can't be heroes. (Byrd 2017)
Why don't catfish have kittens? (Moe Howard 1937)
Funny!
That's such a great record-was on the radio earlier in the day.He had to be a genius giving the freedom he gave the musicians in his bands and holding it together. After about 8 hours o him today; it is truly wonderful to hear-that so much of it works....The music is the late 70's in Europe is amazing
Thanks. That is a funny story.
Best, UT
.., playing with his small band during a Mardi Gras. The crowd booed, forced him offstage, proceeded to dismantle his bandstand...
I like Ornette's stuff, for the most part.

Good story! I can see that happening...For some reason(geography I suppose) he seldom played in NYC. I unfortunately never heard him live
