KGO AM appears to have a directional antenna pattern according to the link below. It says the antenna is directional and if you scroll down the page you will see the theoretical antenna pattern.

KOA AM in my area is a 50-KW station with a single tower omni-directional antenna located only 4 miles from me. I can pickup that station with a 1-foot long wet noodle receiving antenna and 1N34 germanium diode detector..... or just about any tube preamp with unshielded interconnects ;-)
