1,500 US? Even used? The power company here has the voltage all over the place throughout the day. As high as 135 and low as 111. This is getting ridiculous and will get worse, and I'm not anywhere near industry. I need at least 5-10 amp capacity, as high as 20. TIA!

Power companies sell a product that has specifications just like any product. I would guess, by law, they have to operate within those specs. BTW, try to get the specs from a power company, not easy in my experience. I spent over an hour on the phone with corporate and got nothing but BS. A few weeks later I saw a lineman in our neighborhood and approached him. We had a great conversation about a number of interesting things. He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions. Here's a few things I learned:
I would love to have copper wire running from the pole to my home. No way, even if I pay for it. I'm stuck with aluminum.
Our voltage spec is 120VAC +/- 5% (114 - 126VAC). If below or above, they have to fix it.
In the summer I often see mine approaching 126VAC. The voltage and quality of power definitely has an audible affect on my systems. Worth pursuing but as stated by others on occasion, most "audiophile" power products are silly. Certainly, very poor value at best.
Which power company? I have PSE&G in nj. They could give a crap
APS (AZ Public Service) in Tempe, AZ. I would be shocked to find any of them to give a crap, at least when it comes to the consumer. Just to their shareholders and, even then, maybe not. Basically, local monopolies, they call the shots, not us. With that said, if they are out of spec, they are bound by law to correct. I think.
I wasted a lot of time on the phone. The linemen are different, they listen when you can grab them from down the street.
Love that Amperex lamp. Your's is the only other one I've seen besides mine.
That's funny.
a transformer, the type covered and on the ground, was right by our front room. It was noisy and I didn't know where the noise came from at first. Then when outside and discovered it was coming from the transformer and it buzzed and caused noise inside the house. I called the electric company and they came out and said it was working correctly and I said I don't care, it is loud and you can hear it in the front room. They came in the house and agreed. About a week later they came out, installed a new transformer. The sound improved for my system, the new transformer was quiet and and all worked out well.
iBasso DX220, DX120. Focal Utopia and Stellia. iBasso SR1. Mr. Speakers, Ether II, Voce stats. Manley, Absolute HPamp. LTA MZ3, Z10e electrostatic amp. Various other headphones, amps, cables etc.
Glad they took care of it for you.
I have no idea how much it cost, but being one of the 1st off of the transformer was nice and after the install, it was smooth sailing, listening. Until I moved. :^)

You can find them on ebay. They tend to be older, and so may need some refurbishment, but they are reliable and designed for 24/7 operation.
The 6000 and 7000 series do about 8-9 amps max, the 3000 series does about 28 amps max.
They voltage regulate, and also provide clean power- much better than any 'high end audio' conditioner I've seen.
Great to hear that at least one customer has had a good experience with this company and its products
Keep an eye out for a used PurePower 1500+ to come up for sale. They do not come up often though. If you find one it should be at the upper range of price you stated. It's a re-generator that incorporates wet-cell batteries. It converts AC to DC, runs it through the batteries and then does a pure sign-wave conversion back to AC. The batteries provide loads of short term current so that dynamics are not constrained in any way. I have my entire system plugged into it - amps and all. It allows you to set output voltage and other parameters as well. Those settings are not as infinitely adjustable like some other regerators, but all the basic/important ones are there. And the battery backup is awesome. A few weeks ago during daylight hours we had a power failure. The task light above where I was working went out, but the system (on in the background) kept playing without a blip. I was about to go out to inspect the breaker box when it dawned on me the entire house was without power ... except my audio system which played on as if nothing had happened. I've been using PP devices for well over 10 years and could not be happier with them. I have had a couple of service events in that time and in both cases was quite satisfied with them.
Sorry, all...my comment above was supposed to show up here.
Yeah, I've seen and heard of some the reported issues. For my part, I've had the opposite experience.
Voltage was dropping, under 105.
Opened a case with FPL.
They sent someone over to check it out. Not sure what they found, but they had an emergency crew out that night replacing the wiring and the transformer at the pole.
Problem persisted, so they setup a laptop wired to monitor the AC for several days.
They ended up having to upgrade the substation.

my power company is pretty sad about these things, but they always come calling to read the gas meter!
Where are you?
I've been using one for years - also acts as a surge suppressor. I see they've been discontinued, but some are still available. I think they've gone to the type that has a battery, I didn't need that function. It will compensate for low or high voltage with an adjustable range.
You can hear clicking as it adjusts, I'm assuming it's energizing relays on voltage taps rather than firing SCR's, which would be a lot more expensive and would generate a lot of noise. This way, you still get "pure" power.

I use an APC or Tripp Lite backup power supply.
