but have had a great 1/2 Corned Beef, 1/2 Pastrami at Shermans in Palm Springs. Delicious!

  That looks great. There a place in NJ - Harolds famous NY Deli. There deli is great and their sandwiches are crazy sized. They also have an all you can eat pickle bar.

I am still lucky I have a apartment in the city,
We miss Carnegie and second avenue deli as well
I have tried making pastrami many times but it is too complicated to get right.

  The taste was great. I followed the directions for the vacuum sealed blister packs. It was not as tender as I recall from my in person visit to Katz.
  
  We have on more pack. That one I will steam slowly before eating.
