Thanks for the info on how you use the Tascam software.
I digitized some of my vinyl LP's many years ago using a A/D converter capable of 24-bit / 96-kHz PCM driving my computer into the free Audacity software to capture and save it to a huge music file.
I would record one complete LP side as a huge file then manually break it up into tracks using the original huge file each time.... cutting sections out of the file to produce individual tracks. It was painfully labor intensive.

It's real easy to break up the large album size files using this software.
I combine the 2 album sides into one giant file using the software.
Then, break it up into individual tracks.
It just takes time downloading the files into the software I never realized how large music files are.
I give credit to John Ellson's references to the Tascam 3000.
He plays all his recordings on a digital device that looks pretty neat and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Unlike you, I don't stream.I refuse to spend 2 grand for a decent unit and upgrade my home WIFI either.

  Excellent network streamers don't have to cost a lot unless you insist on brands often seen in 'high-end' audiophile magazines. A couple hundred dollars will fetch you a very nice one. It's the DAC that makes most of the difference in sound quality so I would advise using a low priced streamer with a quality outboard DAC.... and a good streaming service like Qobuz or Tidal.

  P.S. John E sent me a handful of DSD tracks he created on his Tascam many years ago. While the sound quality was wonderful the Volume Level was anemic. I don't know why but I had to crank the Volume WAY UP on my system when listening to his tracks. None of my other ones were that weak including commercial DSD and PCM downloads, some from HDTracks and some of my own CD and Vinyl 'rips'.

    That's interesting.I don't have that problem playing the USB stored DSD tracks, only when I burn the PCM cuts into a CD.
    But, my little amp and CD player both have volume controls so I can easily boost the sound level of these.
    You'll laugh, but I play the USBs on a cheap Sony blueray player on my main system and they sound phenomenal with plenty of volume headroom.
    You can differentiate between the between the PCM and DSD versions of any cut.
    I usually listen to the DSD version. The PCM is slightly harsher, but not in a negative way.
    Thanks for the streaming information. Eventually I will look into this. But, I still buy a few lps each year.
