I have the same player. It replaced a Pioneer Elite Blu Ray in my home theater. I would want to hear a modded player first before doing this. In my opinion when any player gets modded the sound is going to change. How do you know you will like it better. I have heard modded players in the past sound like they give you more resolution at first and then they sound bright in the long haul.

It's a reasonable objection to having a unit modified, as one normally does not have an opportunity to hear before signing up for the mods and sending your baby off. So track record and reputation is all you have to go by.
But genuine situations where the modified CD/SACD player performed WORSE than before are very rare.

Geoff
I have a friend who modded his ’83, and he says it’s a clear upgrade over what he had stock. We share very similar sonic tastes, so I tend to trust what he says. I agree that I probably should’ve waited ‘til I had a modded unit in hand to compare to my stock one, but that opportunity just never presented itself. I guess time will tell if the move was worth it or not.
Does your friend use his for 2 channel or in a home theater setup. I would only be interested in knowing if it is better with movies.
He uses it for both music and movies—as I will too. He says the picture quality is visibly improved along with the audio. According to him edge definition and overall clarity are better. I’ll be able to assess this for myself in a few days, but I trust his impressions.
Thanks, let us know what you think as well.
