How's the sound of the Sony HAP-Z1ES ... it just doesn't seem sensible to be spending $7-10k on some piece of electronics these days, like wearing a sign or something.
Follow Ups:
The sound of the HAP-Z1ES is pretty damn good, especially playing DSD files downloaded from Acoustic Sounds. My Sony connects via balanced analog to an Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp and VX-5 Twenty amp driving KEF LS50s supplemented below 100 Hz by a pair of Velodyne HGS-10s with SMS-1 acoustic room correction. The Sony doesn't quite have the magic, that sense of music just flowing unimpeded, that a disc played on the Ayre C-5xeMP can have.db

don't double the Voltage, it's the same as the RCA outs, which I prefer.
Balanced sounded weak, I guess because the Preamp is set for the Higher Voltage, but
doesn't get it it.
My Audio Settings include Remastering Engine ON, and Precision Upsampling.
Also DSEE/Auto, for playing PCM Files.
I call it The Full Sony...
Their Portable DSD Players have some newer Tech that I would love to get in the "Z2",
if there ever is one.
