Tangram | All,
I merely wanted to share an update on the direction of AC | IEC plugs in which I intend to sample the different flavors of plating on the Accuphase 40th Anniversary Edition PC, as a means of hopefully enhancing its rather laid-back top end in favor of extending it.
I've purchased sets of both Xangsane XS-D01 | XS-D02 Rhodium Plated Platinum Copper | Viborg V503S Silver Plated Copper | A Single Monosaudio F101 IEC Female Copper | F101R AC Male Plugs ( as the latter two of which I already have an Copper F101 Male | F101R Rhodium Plated Copper IEC Female in-house ).
Here's a recent letter regarding said Accuphase | Monosaudio P902 PCs from an email buddy in which I met over on Head-Fi where we've managed to keep one another informed on said chats on the whole AliExpress cable thingy over there:
Hello Oscar. All the best to you and yours for a wonderful 2024.
As usual I'm a little late to get back to you but hopefully still useful.
The slightly rolled off highs are truly the only issue I took with the Accuphase over the P902 in my system, and only when compared back-to-back. I was recently on the lookout for a PC and wondered if I could find something as good as the P902 but without the thickness and rigidity of it, for the awkward space behind my kit. I saw the p902R but it looked like a re-badged p902 to me with a price premium, so, to your question, unfortunately I didn't try it.
I then trawled through that Headfi "Aliexpress Cable" thread we were both on to see if I'd missed any other gems and saw that "dougms3" had rated the P902 very highly but slightly preferred the Valhalla 15 Core, so ordered one of those from the same Timeless Audio Store he ordered from - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/1005003123210874.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt. Others also seemed to love it.
When compared to the P902, it was a really tough comparison, because they are so close on all the usual measures - extension on top and bottom, soundstage, resolution. They are both exceptional but I felt that the Valhalla 15 Core was ever so slightly (I had to go back-to-back a few times) more open/extended in the highs. I struggled to decide whether I preferred it because on a couple of tracks it bordered on too much of a good thing. That said, it stayed in the main rig, and that was a couple of months ago. It's a nice alternative to the P902 but I wouldn't go so far as to say better - for bright systems I think the P902 is a safer bet.
P.S it was no more flexible than the P902 - it's another snake of a beast . Btw I also ordered and tried the Valhalla 12 core version for use on the DAC in my second system, again in the hope that it'd be more flexible (it was) but it fell short of both the P902 and 15 core Valhalla.
I hope that is of some use to you, assuming that you haven't already tried it for yourself
Cheers mate!
GeorgeP.S, I am on the lookout for another set of RCA interconnects. Can I trouble you for your current favorite?
It goes without saying, but I recommended the Xangsane SP-6008Ag sterling silver IC's on his behalf, as I've come to absolutely love what they bring to my system | as well as ideally fit into my mindset of how music should be rendered.
At this point I'm committed to extracting the best out of the Accuphase 40th PC | as I've become more and more aware of it's potential, yet once again have to believe that some random combination of said plugs can only improve upon it's already beautiful sound | musicality where I'm once again not even remotely thinking of moving on to another brand | it's time for me once and for all to know when it's time to stop chasing slight differences just for the sake of following the most current fashion statements.
Take care all.

The SP 6008 Xangsane is silver plated copper ? Anyway in the ali sale tomorrow I see you can get a half meter Accuphase pc cheaper than the actual plug and iec themselves ! Crazy and I have use for a half meter now too.
Be interesting when you do get to change out the blades and do the compares for yourself EL34 , I think you will find out soonest even though without too much burnin. And not too much of an expense either.

Tangram | Jon L.Would I be wring to assume say using either a Rhodium or Silver Plated Copper AC Male with a Viborg VF503G Gold Plated Copper IEC Female resolve said weaknesses as heard by using the stock Gold Plated Brass Connectors, as I'm thinking by it only lacking in so much as top end extension | resolution, said AC Males should improve upon the cords already rather laid-back or rolled off nature.
In trying to stick with most of its overall performance | musicality my asking about said replacing the stock brass IEC Female with the Viborg VF503G, is in part because I'm thinking as it offers several different layers of plating as shown ( listed ) on their actual website:
3 Layer Plated:
1. Oxygen Free Copper Plated
2. Silver Plated
3.24K Gold PlatedI'm thinking that by adding said silver plated overlay, should in itself inject a better sense of top end detail | of should I be looking at limiting said task to maybe sticking with the alternatives of either Rhodium | Silver Plated Copper | Raw ( Red ) Copper connectors as far as the IEC Female plug goes?, as I recall Jon L. saying he preferred not to use Gold Plated Copper connectors for said task, yet as I've noticed something of late which caught me somewhat | but not totally off guard was there's currently offer a Rhodium Plated Accuphase 40th AC | IEC plugs available, go figure. Which tells me just maybe they've gotten reports ( feedback ) that maybe other users of this power cord are also seeking ways to get a better | more cohesive | extended top end response for this cord as well.
The other possibility that comes to mind is using a pure copper AC Male in tandem with either a Silver or Rhodium Plated Copper IEC Female | what say ye?. It seems while the possibilities are limited to what's available | I'm willing to go for it.
Back to the sounds..., take care of yourselves | I'll catch up with you both on the flip side.

I would try the upcoming rhodium for the plug and raw copper for the iec and see what that brings to your system as I believe this is the way you are going to go anyway.
BTW do consider rhodium for your interconnects, I much prefer my xlr connectors being rhodium instead of the gold plated ones, both being the very fine Viborg.
Next in line is to try my Viborg pure silver xlr that I have been holding back from doing until I get a good handle on things first. Slowly but surely, and definitely not Chinese junk in all cases!!
Thanks Tangram
It's as if you were reading my mind on which ones to go with, yet as they're cheap enough where I was curious about using either a silver plated male with a gold plated female anyways | I felt as if having the other ones hers just to play with at a later date wouldn't hurt the budget | as I'd far rather have them in-house as opposed to having to order them at a later date | have to wait another 14 days for them to arrive.
I'm willing to live with both the Xangsane sterling silver IC's as is, yet I did notice one had a gold plated tip, while the other is rhodium plated...-, yet as I'll end up with 3 different makes of the AC Male plugs | respectively from Xangsane ( rhodium plated platinum over copper ) | Viborg VM501R copper > silver > rhodium ) | Monosaudio VM101R ( copper > silver > palladium > rhodium ) I'll have to get a feel for which sound fits best?.
And you're correct in saying I too find any of these cables | not plugs as just whatsoever, yet if seems those unwilling to try them with always have something negative to say, yet i don't see much made here with the exception of maybe connectors offers by Cardas Audio | WireWorld | DH Labs | Vampire, unless I've missed a few?, of which I'd care less seeming as they would much be more costlier than said Chinese junk anyways. And who's to say the ones made here are truly made any better?, and don't use brass as their base metal?.
Once again | often fuck the naysayers, I'm the wrong one to meet in a darkened alley | computed warriors be damned.
Thanks for the heads up on the sake, as it stands I'm going to wait on the power plugs to,arrive and go from there.
Yet said SP-6008Ag ( of which I went with the Greg Knoght GK-6008Ab version | as I looked the fact it's done in a black outer techflex, whereas I didn't like the Xangsane shade of green, until I got in their SCs that is ) but truth be told..., it exceeded what I heard with either the NEARdost Odin 2 or Gold PCs within a few minutes, if I were to do one more silver plated power cord it'd be this one as recommended to me by Dantheman, whom initially turned me upon the Xangsane cables to begin with:
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! $90.25 5ï¼... Off | Xangsane 5N OCC Silver-plated HiFi audio power cable Large current 220V amplifier US\AU power supply upgrade line 1.5mm² single
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLXaGZ2
Which can be found cheaper on eBay by putting in " Preffair 5N OCC power cord ":

Happy hunting young man | thanks again for the words of encouragement in pursuing those different platings of connectors.
And as the photo above shows | I'm willing to try out one more silver plated copper pair of IC's | especially seeming as how I'm taken with their PC | SCs..., green hue and all. As of my own preferences for now..., pure copper anything other than the Accuphase 40th PC isn't remotely welcomed near either of my systems.
