I do make cables...however I discovered this before I was in the wire business. I will not compare my cables to MIT or any brand of cable, but I will say that I enjoyed the sound of the MIT cables...just shocked their T3 interconnects had empty boxes.

Ok. I have used or evaluated a generous cross section of cables throughout the years and have found MIT IC's and speaker cables to far outperform any of the competition. In total however, a blending of technologies and cable products often get one further down the raod to audio alchemy...one must trust only ones ears!

Back then I really liked the MIT Terminator 3 speaker cables , but I must admit that the Terminator 3's did sound better once I removed the networks.

Your hopeless...good luck:O)

Your hopeless..
Say what?
Previously you said "one must trust only ones ears."
And when he does, and finds that the cables sounded better to him with the networks removed, he's "hopeless"?
What sort of nonsense is that?

I've been around the block and know enough to be able to tell a closed mind when I run across one...especially when they pull the "empty box" routine. Besides, I make suggestions and then leave it up to the person at hand...and their ears! The guy makes wires dude and bad mouths MIT? How old of a story is that ??? Most of my discussions occur off the net through private e-mails from people who are genuinely interested in some seasoned guidance...ok with you buttercup?

He has a closed mind because he liked the cables better with the networks removed?
especially when they pull the "empty box" routine.
So you're calling him a liar when he says he opened the box and found nothing in it?

See my last post to wirewizard:O) Does anyone NOT make cables...Et tu Steve?

I ask again because you seem to have missed these questions the first time I asked them.

Steve... this guy is a joke and is the epitome of everything he is arguing about. I wouldn't waste another breath on him ;-)

My first thouht was to be suspicious of "The Empty Box" rhetoric and the subsequently ironic, backhanded compliments. Now I'm even more interested in why two cable makers can't accept someone with their own views and or thoughts regarding a post! Do you have a substantive question or any in depth commentary regarding anything remotely interesting? Let's not discuss the merits of MIT vs other cables or anything meaningfull...that would be a waste of time, right? I do think Mr. Wirewizard was less closed minded as confused and lacking the ability to effectively evaluate a cables performance honestly with critical unbiased analysis (since he is a cable maker NOW he needs to be more thorough in his rhetoric). Strawman arguments are pathetic. Remember, I could care less what you believe or don't believe...it's your life. Rather, it is you and Wirewizrd who simply don't like what I said...get over it!!! Close minded? More limited in understanding perhaps. Liar?...the jury can not convict without absolute proof, but I remain extremely suspicious. Maybe you two should go open some more boxes and take some unedited video of the process...or you could go to the MIT website and see what's inside and read about the patents you do not have.

so,, did you share the tweak? Tried to e-mail you,,but it says that you are not accepring any.
thebordas- I hear what you're saying and I hope I didn't come off as terse when I said that I hoped my post would bring the thread back on topic.
A couple things occurred to me. First, though I did send an email to kenster asking about the tweak, I agree with David S. that it would be nice to post the tweak on the thread for the benefit of us all, and for future readers. Second, and along the same line, I thought it would be good to post the link to the instructables.com page that shows the inner workings of the Transparent cable since the two companies seem to have a shared design. So here it is.
Transparent (owned about $40K of thier stuff at one time) and MIT (owned about $40K+ of thier stuff and till use it) are very different. Transparent used to make cables for MIT until Brisson (with his ideas and pending patents)went on his own and stuck Transparent with cable making infrastructure...what to do?? Transparent decided to...you guessed it, make cables! They had alot of equipment and very little know how, but they took the basic network idea, but in a different direction. Transparent went with a raher cheap, in line filter approach..think brick wall filter. Reduce the hash and limit the bandwidth..radio shack meets zip cord! MIT uses heir technology outside the signal path..unbroken Hot to Hot wires with storage capacitance to be released "in phase" acros a broad frequency range, hence te term "Articulation". Add to that adjustable impedance settings and you have a real world solution to the cable conundrum, whereas Transparent is very very old school and it can be heard quite easily on a Hi rez system:O) Some here are trying to draw me into their lunatic wire fringe with "Empty Box" rhetoric. Bottom line is that I prefer MIT IC's and speaker cables because I've owned most of the "wire is wire" products and they are definately just that...plain old wire!!

Oh yeah...how so? Please elaborate why I am hopeless.

I don't have the energy nor the desire to assist everyone I come across, let alone someone who makes his own cables. You seem happy and set in your ways so enjoy and Godspeed!

My help is offered up to those with specific needs and open minds. My right to pontificate freely is also my business...now go sell your cables!
dave_b
Hopeless?????????????? ;-)
I do it all in the name of music!!!
Please go sell your cables....pretty please??? Do you really have a serious question or are you going to continue to bate me into your "Wirewizard World"??? I don't believe your "empty box " story..it's as old as the hills? Did you buy them from a bricks and mortar company? Why didn't you lodge a complaint with MIT to get your money back? I've owned many 4 and 5 figure cables which I didn't prefer, but I don't make up stories about their inferior construction. Go back to your dundgeon Mr. Wizard and make another batch of "me too" cables.
dave_b
I don't care if you don't believe that the MIT Terminator 3 interconnects had empty network boxes. And yes I bought them from Audio Craft which is definitely a "bricks and mortar" company that is still around today. I did not file a complaint with MIT and get a refund because one... I voided the warranty by opening them up... two... I liked the way they sound regardless of the empty network. I never said their construction was inferior nor did I bash them...remember this happened before my cable making days. I opened them up because I wanted to know what made them sound so good...to my surprise it was nothing there. After that I immediately opened up my MIT Terminator 3 speaker cables to see if they were empty as well, and to my chagrin they had something there.
There is no logical reason for you to argue about what I saw in a pair of MIT Terminator 3 interconnects...why would I make that up...I originally posted this here on the asylum several years ago before I was even in the cable business... you are either in denial or you are a shill for MIT...no need to reply, your motives are transparent...oooppsss I mean clear don't want you to think that I'm dissing MIT and Transparent ;-)
I do it all in the name of music!!!
I really didn't even want to get this far with you...what's the point?? You found an empty MIT box..Wooo Whooo!! What do you wish for me to do for you? Should I tuck you into bed with a pat on the back?....What is it? Do you miss your daddy? Not enough lovin? WHAT???????????????????? I buy MIT products and others...that's it buddy...want a recommendation?
dave_b
"You found an empty MIT box..Wooo Whooo!! What do you wish for me to do for you?"
Nothing...I never asked you to reply to my post...you chose to involve yourself in this matter...funny how you feel the need to defend MIT products... you are even talking crap in the other MIT thread going on.
You wrongfully assumed that I did not like MIT products because I stated my experience with the empty network boxes on the T3 interconnects. I only asked to see if my pair was an isolated incident. Anyway, back in those days MIT was my favorite brand... empty boxes and all... I still enjoyed them.
Go argue with someone who actually doesn't like MIT products ;-)

Then why are you still bugging me? Are you that thin skinned or do you need a hug? I'm kinda busy, being a Time Lord and all, in addition to being a cable afficianado, so Let me try and get back to you yesterday after I take care of something important in my TARDIS...it should only take a year or so. Bye for now and happy tommorrows:O)
dave_b
Bugging you...oooookkkkkkaaaayyyy...and you say I have thin skin...sheesh ;-)

This is the frustrating part...I don't think you get half the tongue and cheek stuff or quite know how to handle a goodbye well. I'll bet you that if we had a discussion over a beer or a glass of wine ...ok, a bottle, we would probably have never gone down this path. I might even think your swell:O)
dave_b
Since you obviously must have the last word...I'm going to be the bigger man and let you have it ;-)
