Something else I might try one of these days...
Follow Ups:
I've been tinkering with my AN Kit One for sometime. Caps/resistors/etc... What I've been thinking of - but have yet to find the time to do mathematics (and look for funds) - is regulate the B+ to the final stage. I've been thinking of a series pass - maybe EL34-12AX7 kind of set-up. I wonder if anyone did this ? worth the effort?
if you look on thorsten's website at his 300b legacy power amp, it has valve regulated ht. i don't know enough to say wether you could use this power supply as it is in a kit one, or wether it would need modifying ?
Did you look at AN P3 schematic. Same tubes a little different configuration
May be worth to try.
or you may want to divide the cathode resistors into the two legs. I would imagine this would make for a more uniform dissipation. So 1k8 on each leg to make 900R total. But you still need the same 15-18w power capability. Maybe two Mills 3k6/12w in parallel on each leg ... I used this in my 2A3.
