Hi Vincin ,
If you have the chip , the most difficult is done.
You have nothing to solder/unsolder.
The chip is mounted mechanically on its support.
You can try to remove it with your own tools or
use a special tool available in electronic shops.
Be carefull when introducing the new chip (alignment of the pins)
There also exist a special tool for this purpose but I think you can
do without. Maybe someone can lend you these tools or do the work
for you if you have some fear.
Follow Ups:
oh tks, I didnt realize that. A friend gave me the chip, he bought a few of them for his diy nos DACs. Tks.
What would be the difference between the stock version vs the K version(technical and sound wise)?
Thanks
Kind of hard to describe, but my initial thoughts were that the dac was given more impact, more energy in the bass region. This corresponds with statements I have heard from other people who have done the same.
Electrically I do not know the difference other then the -K chip is "special" selected. Whatever that means.
If anyone still looking for AD1865NK chips.. I have some for sale here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125405
thanks
