Hey, I'm 83 and recently purchase a new high-end preamp and phono stage plus a used pair of very high end speakers. I guess I at least have not gotten over the upgrade bug, but at least it only strikes many years apart.

Cheers for you!
In this world that is all we are getting while we pray for good health I am the same age -and bought the Maggie 20.7 new. Even fly business class without upgrades
The bug only bites many of us old codgers at increasing time between occurrences. We already got what we need. As your specialty is wine, may I say this to you:
Carpe Vinum
Sadly, the kind of high end wine I used to drink decades ago (e.g., Grand Cru Burgundies) are far beyond my means now. Unlike wine or cake, at least with stereo equipment you can have it and listen to it (consume it) as well.
My recent upgrade was the most significant I have made since acquiring Kef 105.2 speakers decades ago. The Vandersteen 5A carbons are amazing, but my old ears certainly cannot fully appreciate all aspects of them. With good recordings the sound in my living room is now better than many concert halls I have been in.
Wow, the Kef 105.2 were, and still are, one of my ultimate "if I could have any speaker" dreams.
I was unaware that Vandersteen was still operating. A friend purchased a new set of 2As and loves them to this day.
Thanks for sharing.
