I just noticed these cool 12AX7 preamps from Japan. I like the retro feel,,meters, bakelite (it seems) knobs, etc.I cannot judge the quality by the construction/parts although it seems well put together.
All I know is that I know nothing

That is cool, view from the rear. Maybe a Marantz 7 clone +.

That bastrd sure is big!
But it does look pretty cool.
My initial thought was it looked like a Marine ship to shore radio. With Reel to reel meters for looks.
That really is one funky looking piece!
... EAR Yoshino 912 preamp. Given his Japanese connections I wonder if Tim de Paravicini was in any way influenced by the Matsuo styling?

I love the music of Dmitri Shostakovich ...

...just remarking on its styling similarities to this thread's subject.
NB: It probably does have remote volume control. EAR Yoshino do not seem to mention such things as either features or specifications. On the other hand the 912 is a product that originated in their professional range where interest in having a remote would be less likely.

love it too! If you do buy one let us know. Cool retro look.

Almost looks like a vintage piece of Altec gear, not so sure that was an accident. The Japanese seem to love vintage Altec. I sure like the way it looks.
