I just plug the regular output into my usual preamp. No problem. But the 'tape out' would work.
(I use the XLR out, which is only on the regular output. The Tape out is only RCA.. So...)
So yes it is easy to us a full featured preamp with phono just for the phono section. No problem.
I also have two other stand alone Phono boxes...
Follow Ups:
I'd be curious to know if the tape out via RCA sounds better than pre out via XLR. Sure, it's apples to oranges because of the cable change, but the tape out should have the advantage because of bypassing internal components in the SP-15.
Have you ever tried it that way? Thanks.
But it is an interesting possibility.
I would have to check when i am using it to play LPs.
(Typically I am playing CDs being really lazy and all, and thus the Sp-15 is not turned on.)
