I find no single material does a great job to reduce vibrations. I prefer multiple layers of successively less dense material. For example, steel/aluminum/granite on top, followed by MDF and elastomer/foam below. Symposium puts together their platforms in a symmetrical manner so it's bi-directional dampening.
