Re: I'm cross with my crossover...

first to go are the small value 'lytics. These should be replaced by a good metalised polypropelene cap at the very least - ideally a film foil cap would be better. The large 'lytics should be upgraded to something significantly better (Black gate possibly), but remember that they must be non polar, or bipolar (the same thing), but the cap vendor you talk to will help with choices here (and I must admit to being more than a bit concerned to see such large value caps in a XO).

Now to the vital bit, the cap sets must be paired (so that each side is as near to the same as possible), and as close to the nominal value stamped on the old cap covers. Your cap supplier will be able to do this with a componant bridge.

Whilst in there, Vishay/sfernice make nice T220 power metal film resistors that you could consider instead of the cement ones, and likely as not the wire is little better than bell wire (or worse in B&W's case!). The inductors (air cored, or iron cored) should be left alone (if they are unmarked) - it is likely that they are a proprietary winding, of set value for the crossover point.

Remember this voids all warranties, and is entirely at your own risk - if in doubt get a tech to do it for you!

have fun :-)

Owen
