With my CD63se I never had any problem regarding this. I also use Nero and EAC with LG 16x/10x/40x and many different CD media, and everything always worked fine. I also played many others CDRs, burned with other software and writers and never had a problems reading them.In EAC options I left default values with the exception of some "marginal" settings as disabling CD autostart while EAC is running. For Drive options I used autodetect features. However, I don't believe the problem is in EAC's settings, simply because you have the same problem with Nero.
