Hello Craig,I use similar LC pre-filtering before each regulator. I use a 100uH 1.2 Amps. from J.W. Miller.
The end caps is a 1000uF HQ: Panasonic FC, Nichicon Muse, Elna ROA, etc. But that's not all. You need a little cap at the input and another at the output as spike bypass. I've use ceramic before but film-foil is better. I use a 0.022 or 0.1 uF. You need to try as all inductor do not rings at same frenquency with the same current flowing trough it. When doing CLC filter, it's important to make the Q less than .707 and test with a scope which decoupling caps you need to use.
