RIGHT...Another try

RIGHT!

Back from Homedepot yet again with 6 pieces of 2x4's (10 feet in length each)
12 large 5 inch capacity C clamps (to add to my 6 quick release clamps)
A counter sink drill bit and a pound of wood screws that will roughly bite into half of the underneath sheet of wood (just over).

If this doesn't work, then I'll try another glue...
If that doesn't work then nothing will.

Plans for tomorrow are to drill pilot holes every 4 inches in the top sheet along both sides of where the center 2x4 will rest while being clamped and counter sink them.
Glue up both pieces as before...place together, clamp the 6 2x4's across the length of the piece (one in the center, and the other two at the far edges) and then attach screws down the length.

This combined must be exerting thousands of pounds of pressure on the two pieces.

The test piece is going to be the (now two ply) original piece, as I intended to make this a 2 ply sandwich anyway, I think I'll continue as though the first sandwich had worked...This way I'm not wasting wood as the additional top layer was intended for this one anyway and is now considered spare.

To make another brand new shelf will mean buying another 2 8x4's and I'm secretly hoping this one will turn out to be somewhat salvagable.

I'll see how it goes.

If this doesn't work...Like I said. I'll try another glue.
The gorilla brand looks excellent.

I'll keep you posted.

Rob.
