The type of rack you describe will effectively couple everything on it with all floorborn vibrations, contributing its own resonance "character" as well.If you search this forum, you'll find numerous entries about seismic isolation and its sonic benefits. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea if the commercial rack and stand manufacturers searched this forum as well.
