Like I said...It just seems like the rack could be a main point of saved money.
I don't supose I'll ever be able to recreate a krell preamp or build my own speakers, but a system stand that more than anything else needs to be as rock solid as is humanly possible seems more likely a prospect for a DIY job than any other factor of the hifi setup that I can think of.I'd absolutely love to hear from people who think they can equal some of the more astheticly appealing designs.
Hell...I've always wanted a go of a welding machine.
