Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. The noise is 60Hz, not at other frequencies, so I have to deal with the ground problem before dealing with RFI/EMI-type junk. I originally thought it was simply a ground loop problem, so I tried using a common ground, but it looks like it is ground imbalance described in Jensen's AN-004 whitepaper.Good suggestion about the S/PDIF; too bad I would have to buy an external DAC. Is a cheap DAC worth it v. a $160 Jensen transformer?
I have yet to try the cheater plug, though it would probably improve the situation quite a bit (I'd have to run an extra ground line from the comp to the jack the hi-fi is plugged into).Best,
