Chris,
How long are your interconnects? How are you connecting to your PC?I was worried about noise levels too when I decided to hook up a hi-fi system to my PC. Started out with cheesy skinny interconnect, but found some gold plated stereo mini jack to stereo rca jack adapters at the Rat Shack. Hooked up decent IC's to those, and x-connected my PC line out/in with the receivers tape in/out jacks.
You can listen to PC generated sounds using "tape monitor" on the rcvr, or feed ANY ANALOG AUDIO, including LP's, into the PC for recording digitally and/or burn to CD's. NO NOISE AT ALL IN THIS SYSTEM! Dead quiet with my ear to the speaker.
now playing digital mp3 recording of "let it be" by joan baez, sung at 1970 Big Sur folk festival...not available on CD at all!
