If I were you I'd ignore the inductor (leave it alone). The new binding posts will accept bare copper wire - I would cut off the terminal and go copper to copper. Now this may be crazy but let me ask: how about cutting a reaplacement template from a small piece of red oak? Use this new template to mount the BP and move the old bobin/coil to the side inside the speaker?
