First choice: Alan Bradley Carbon (2Watts and over); next comes IRC carbon, IRC non-inductively wounded wire resistors; ...HARD to get but good ones: Be Yamamura...
2nd choice: Vishay, Roederstein, Holco, Mills, etc.
3rd choice: any sterile sounding, magnetic metal film resistors
4th : any cheap carbon film resistors.
Why? I always like the warm sound of carbon resistors. For resolution and analytical taste I will go for my 2nd choice....
