This is all rather silly to argue, seeing as nobody has yet tried or made my design. Also, the resonant frequency issue exists for all things, not just ceramic tiles, and the dampening aspects of epoxy are not limited to a specific frequency. Look inside many high quality components and you will see capacitors in particular potted in epoxy. Why? To damp vibrations. Also, bonding the two together increases the frequency and decreases the magnitude at which they might resonate, even disregarding the dampening benefits of epoxy. I have no problem with buying commercially made dampeners, I just wish to try my own design-why take the fun out of tweaking by buying everything? Learn something and build your own. Besides this, many people have spent huge amounts of money on their systems and simply cannot afford more accessories. As to VPI's magick brick, I own 2 magic bricks-which are designed both to stabilize the power supply AND to damp vibrations, the dampening is one of their selling points!
They perform well. Improved soundstaging, separation, a reduction in grain and hash are all noticable with magic bricks.
