Bob,We were the Japanese agents for the Crosby gear years ago, so that is why I was asking. Some of the stuff we never got, and if it was one-of-a-kind, that is a good reason.
I remember that the RIAA teflon pcbs were originally laid out so they could take both the big polystyrene and the smaller PP MIT caps. So you replaced the caps entirely with the Hi-Rels? I seem to recall that Richard Lees was mentioning that you had sourced some teflon caps with a different metal can construction - how did that turn out?
On one of the CAW DMC-10s, I removed the piggyback pcbs completely and rebuilt the entire line stage to folded-cascode topology. That worked real well.
My own feelings today are that the DMC-10 has not been able to keep up with today's best preamps. On the other hand, we had two mono power amp sets that were twice-modified - once by Jerry and Petr in the US, and once again by ourselves in Japan. Those are still probably the best power amps that I have heard to date. Wish we hadn't sold them...
regards and thanks for the info
