Jonathan, the delrin case was a one of that went to a New York client and yes it did sound quite a bit better than the steel case, but all the switches were replaced at the same time with big rotaries which had to effect the crosstalk substantially over those tiny toggles...The client still has it as a spare as we built him a preamp he likes better....The PFC was a mixed bag having more bass, but most liked the std supply better into a fancy AC filter.....Sweeney also made some beautiful wood boxes for the units and I have a friend who was very happy with this.....It sure has been a while since I played with one of these units, but the CAW units were wonderful if the RIAA caps were replaced with Hi-Rel teflon/tin and the other wire for the line amp was added....CAW just ran one which was cut by drilling the original board for the new little piggyback boards....One side had trace and the other some of that blue six nines wire they liked years ago....I guess the point is that these old CAW units can be competitive with all but a very few units available today and are normally a bargain if found on the used market....
