As others have mentioned, the pods do seem to soften the sound and provide some isolation control. I use them under the turntable feet and under the pre-amp. I noticed no real difference under the cdp in my system.But they are also quite soft and do stick to things. They might also be sold as paint remover. I recently moved things around and found that the pods perfectly removed the laquer and stain from the shelf on my rack down to the bare wood. They also left a ring of residue from the pod. Needless to say, I now use a piece of wax paper between them and the shelf.
