No particular direction. However, as I tend to do with all parts and cables that are not indicated as being directional, I often orient the printed lettering (if any) on a part/cable placed in the direction of signal flow to load, or in the case of the X2 cap I simply oriented the printed lettering on the cap placed in the direction going from live to neutral (call me quirky). I did not experiment placing the X2 cap in the opposite direction since the results were quite fine to my ear.
