OK, so I finally have a shop to work in and it's time to make a Rack!
It's going to be a Flexy rack. I've got the Material, 3/4 " rod, the shelf sandwich will be (bottom) 3/4" MDF, (middle) 1/4" Cork, (Top) 3/4" plywood with Cherry veneer.
I plan on putting a border on the outside edges of the shelves. The top section (3/4" plywood) will be 1/8 larger all the way around, than the middle + bottom section. The border will only be attached to the Top 3/4" plywood.
With the reading I have done with posts on this forum, I think this is a good plan.
But....... when I have the Threaded Rod going through the shelves, the Rod will be in Contact with all 3 sections! Will this make my effort of not having the border touch all 3 sections, null and void, useless???
I would like to have a snug fit with the Rods, but might it be better to have a larger hole and take care when fitting the shelves to keep the Rod centered and not touching all sections??
Or am I all getting all worried for nothing, does it matter!!???
Any Ideas???
Thanks
Ken
