Image: Herbie’s Audio Lab grungebuster DotsTaking a design tip from Herbie’s Audio Lab Tenderfoot which now features a thin decoupling grungebuster Dot adhered to its base, I topped the Big Fat Dots with grungebuster Dots (1 inch diameter). This improved performance in a big way as placed within my particular loudspeaker/speaker stand configuration:
The top end is more open and presents greater resolution. The soundstage presents a more pristine presence without sounding forward in any manner. A level of subtle haze completely removed. Improved inner detail, ambient information, and spatial cues -- in general, all aspect of micro listening cues greatly improved.
The bottom end is now so well controlled that I was able to raise my stereo subwoofers active low-pass crossover point up a bit to decrease a level of driver resonant point ringing I’ve been trying to contend with.
I must wonder if 1-5/16" (33.3mm) diameter grungebuster Dots that fit the exact diameter of a Big Fat Dot would be an even better option than the 1 inch diameter grungebuster Dots I currently have in place...
