From what I understand the hot and neutral wires will carry 60 volts each out of phase from each other. The difference between the two will be canceled out much like a balanced XLR connection. Usually the hot carries all of the 120 volts so no cancellation takes place.
I suspect balanced power like balanced line level will provide cleaner transfer.
