Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I noticed this since putting the parallel filters in my system: I bi-amp w/250/ch on LF, 100/ch on HF. My HF amp has peak LED's. I have always used these as my "max" volume level even though used in a bi-amp that crosses at 2500Hz it is likely the LF amp still has headroom. Better safe than sorry.Anyway, here are the differences now that the filters are installed. If and when the amps peak LED's lights up now the duration time they stay lit is much shorter and I can go a few volume notches higher than before (I have 125 volume positions on my Placette) before the LED's light up. Of course the music playing determines how high I can go on the volume setting but I know that setting for all of my "reference recordings" and it is higher now.
So is this due to the fact my system is now producing cleaner sound and not amplifying the "grunge" along with the signal as before or is it an impedance thing meaning the amp sees a different impedance? Comments welcomed! I hope I "splained" myself clearly enough. Thanks in advance.

Question "Authority", the mainstream media sucks - Go Independent and hold BOTH parties accountable instead of just the other guys!
I need music to help forget the reality of today
