Home Tweakers' Asylum

Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

Ah, grasshopper, that is but one task along the path to quiet.

Did you mistakingly think that a question such as this could be solved by a virtual "tweak" of a knob? That there was some magic solution to your woes??

Your problem, as well as that of system hum, is one of the most difficult and aggravating problems the home audiophile faces..most annoying, it is..

If you did what I asked in the way I meant (it's kinda hard without pictures), then that reduces the possibility that it is loop pickup between the cart ground and the IC ground.

Next, I would recommend unplugging the ttable, and listen for the noise with the needle on the record (old crappy record, of course.). That tests the ttable power/cart/preamp loop.

It is not possible to distinguish if your response is one of jest, or if you simply have "issues". I recommend that when you post a question on a forum, it would be decent of you to acknowledge and thank the input of others. After all, they have taken their time and offered their advice in an attempt to help you with your problem...not their problem.

Cheers, John
