Stig:My DAC chips are also PCM 64Ps. Forgive me if I implied that I knew the turns ratio of the AN transformer, because I don't.
I built my own home-brew variation of the AN DAC-3 using a company-supplied schematic. I'm using the Sowter 8347 transformers, with no filters and I can't say that the perceived gain (or performance) seemed audibly different in my friend's AN DAC vs my home-brew version. Add to that the fact that they look 100% identical; therefore I suggested that maybe they are identical.
I couldn't tell you why the step-up ratio is so different...it's hard for me to believe that I would not have perceived much difference.
Anyway, sorry for any confusion.
Jim
