Mcmaster Carr has laminated maple workbench tops. Prices aren't bad if you buy the longer ones and cut to size. Best to get the width you need though.
Just clamp some angle iron across the plank as a guide for your skill saw and you can cut it straight. Heck, we/you wouldn't torch cut a 4' by 8' piece of 1/2" plate without a "cutting guide" either. Same concept.
