In Reply to: The "mystery" eBay AC plug is a counterfeit... posted by Duster on March 5, 2006 at 09:36:17:
The AC plug I received from Duster is indeed a counterfeit. This can be determined by the following:The ring in back of the outer barrel is transparent blue and not black as is the Oyaide. There are metal inserts in the outer barrel of the counterfeit to accept the screws that hold the assembly together. There are none on the genuine Oyaide. On the counterfeit, the blades are pitted, inferior material with inferior plating. The black body of the plug, which in the Oyaide is high density PBT mixed with 30% glass filler, is cheap plastic on the counterfeit. And finally, ironically, the counterfeit does not have the PSE logo stamped on the black body. I suppose that ultimately they realized that using the PSE symbol illicitly could bring them even bigger trouble than ripping off the look of our product. The Oyaide AC plug has PSE, UL and CE certification. This should be important to the end user as the counterfeit plug cannot guarantee that it has met any safety standard whatsoever.
I should clarify that there is an authorized Oyaide dealer who has an ebay store, Revolution Power. The products they sell are 100% genuine Oyaide.
